Once you got login details for your Linux Reseller Hosting Account, you may want to start with creating hosting packages which you can assign to your client if you want to resell hosting plans or can assign then for all your websites. Just follow the process describe below for creating hosting package whcih you can assisgn to all hosting accounts hosted under your WHM reseller hosting account.

First of all you need to Log into WHM , then click on the Add Packages icon under packages menu of your WHM. Now you need to enter the name of the package and will have to enter maximum disk space you want to allocate for hosting package name and quota fields.
You need to enter maximum number which you want to allow for Ftp Accounts, Max Email Accounts, Max Email Lists, Max SQL Databases, Max Sub Domains, Max Park Domains, and Max Addon Domains fields etc… you can enter unlimited as value for required filed if you do not want to place a limit on any particular item.
You need to indicate whether CGI access and FrontPage Extensions are allowed in the CGI Access and FrontPage Extensions tick boxes.
you will also have to enter the maximum bandwidth in megabytes which you would like to allocate for hosting package under Bandwidth Limit field.
You can choose the default CPanel theme for the account in the Cpanel Theme field.
Now you will have to click on Create button so that new hosting package would be added into your WHM same way you can add more hosting packages under your reseller hosting account.

For some reason the packages you have added are not shown when created under your hosting account, its very simple and you can solve this just by following few steps describe below :
If you have already created hosting packages , but they are not showing when you are trying to create an account Login to WHM, Edit each package that does not show and click save. (You do not need to change anything on the edit page, just hit save.) this would solve your hosting package issues.

How to generate a Private Key using cPanel

If you want to provide secure financial transactions from your site then you will have to consider installing SSL certificate for your domain. Usually all ecommerce sites have this certificate installed on their site as having this secure seal on your site will attract more visitors for making financial transactions without any fear. If your site is hosted on linux server you will get cpanel as hosting control panel for your hosting account using which you can manage your hosting, one of main feature of cpanel is that you can install your SSL certificate yourself if your webhost allows you to do so. The domain for which you want to install SSL certificate should be hosted on dedicated IP, as SSL certificate can be installed only for domains hosted on Dedicated IP. You also need to have Private Keys and public keys for installing SSL certificate.
Following are steps for generating private key which is required for installing SSL you need to log into your cpanel, click on SSL Manager icon [ "SSL/TLS Manager" ] Now click on “ private Keys “ icon scroll down the page and get “Generate a New Key” and select the domain for which you wish to have SSL certificate.
Its always recommended to use “ www” in the box preceding the domain name which will point this certificate at “ www.domainname.com “ rather then “ http://domainname.com” this will prevent few errors which will occur if you are integrating this certificate with your shopping cart also error like “canonicalization errors” would be avoided.
If you want to have this certificate for subdomain like shopping.maindomain.com make sure you first create it suing your control panel and then proceed with above steps. You need to enter created subdomain name in the box before generating Key file.
Once you specified domain name you will have to click on the “Generate” button to create the Public Key file. Its always recommended to copy this information to a TEXT file as a backup copy. You can also “Fetch” the KEY file from the server at a later time, however there are chances that key file may become corrupted or is lost so its better to keep a backup copy of this file.
Depending upon the type of SSL Certificate you have ordered, you maybe required to purchase a new SSL Certificate if you need to change information (Domain, etc.) at a later date.
You should take care to preserve the privacy of this private key and should not be given out to any one, also, there is no way to recover a private key file if it is lost or damaged. Once you are ready with Private Key, then next step is to create a “Certificate Signing Request” which is also required to successful installation of SSL for required domain. If you are not much technically sound then you can request your webhosting service provider to help you out for getting SSL installed for your domain.

Disable WHM popup

Sometime you want to disable WHM login pop-up screen which ask you username/password when you are trying to access it. You can disable such popup easily, you just have to do few setting in your WHM. Just login to your WHM.. get into Server Configuration then Tweak Setting and just checkout “Disable Http Authentication for cPanel/WebMail/WHM Logins ( forces cookie authentication ) “

Its always suggested to have HTTP Authentication as its more secure as compare to Cookie Authentication, this doesn’t mean that Cookie Authentication is insecure but HTTP is better, so choice is yours….

Importance of du command

du command is most popular Unix command using which you can get an overview of your file-directory space usage. It quickly estimate diskspace usage by certain directory. You can get full data about sizes of few specific directories, full directory tree or even size of each file.
If certain directory is eating up all your allotted diskspace which may cause overload on your server resulting server crash or preventing further logins. Thus du command is very useful for a system administrator to get all details on disk usage and can monitor it, so that they can avoid system crashes.
You can use du -sh * to get the biggest directory which is eating up your diskspace, again cd into it and once again fire above command, finally you will get required file which is consuming maximum diskspace so that you can think over it and take necessary action against it.
$ du –h will display output of diskusage in Byte, Kilobyte, Megabyte, Gigabyte, Terabyte and Petabyte (Human-readable output)

To use du command you should have read permission on that particular directories else you cant get diskspace consumption report for that particular directory, thus normal user with limited permissions can’t use this command for files/directories belonging to other users.
You can use different attributes with du commands :

du [-a] [-k] [-s] [-d] [-L] [-o] [-r] [-x] directories

-a	Displays the space that each file is taking up.
-k	Write the files sizes in units of 1024 bytes, rather than the default 512-byte units.
-s	Instead of the default output, report only the total sum for each of the specified files.
-d	Do not cross filesystem boundaries. For example, du -d / reports usage only on the root partition.
-L	Process symbolic links by using the file or directory which the symbolic link references, rather than the link itself.
-o	Do not add child directories’ usage to a parent’s total. Without this option, the usage listed for a particular directory is the space taken by the files in that directory, as well as the files in all directories beneath it. This option does nothing if -s is used.
-r	Generate messages about directories that cannot be read, files that cannot be opened, and so forth, rather than being silent (the default).
-x	When evaluating file sizes, evaluate only those files that have the same device as the file specified by the file operand.
directories	Specifies the directory or directories.

Disabling Telnet Service.

If you are still using Telnet for for connecting your PC to a server on the network then you should disable it and should be replaced it with SSH. There is high security risk if you are using Telnet for accessing server as Telnet sends clear text passwords and usernames through logins which can be hacked by anyone.
For some reason few hosting service provider don’t disable telnet by default thus you need to make sure you have disable it for your server. TELNET server listens for incoming messages on port 23, and sends outgoing messages to port 23 thus you will have to close port 23 and will have to turn off Telnet.
How to Disable Telnet service for your server.
1. Login to your server through SSH and su to root.
2. Type pico /etc/xinetd.d/telnet
3. Search line: disable = no in above file and replace No with yes ie disable = yes
4. Now restart the inetd service: /etc/rc.d/init.d/xinetd restart
5. Make sure you have to turn it off through chkconfig as well, because you can still start Telnet through it.
/sbin/chkconfig telnet off
6. Lastly you need to scan your server to ensure port 23 is closed.
nmap -sT -O localhost
Also run ps -aux | grep telnet and if you find anything other than “grep telnet” as result kill the process.

Te domains entry is available in userdomains,
Check the domains entry is available in localdomain,
The domain must have catchall address set if not then set
vi /etc/valiases/domain.com, *: username.
Make sure that the mail folder have ownership user:mail.
Restart exim services once.
Now try sending out few mails you should not get such error again.
